Game console ban further lifted in China

State Council of China released a notice on the afternoon of Jan 29th – “State Council’s Notice on Spreading DuplicableExperiences of Pilot Reform in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone”, which says “domestic and foreign-invested enterprises are allowed to engage in manufacture and sale of game and entertainment equipment”, marking a comprehensive lifting of the 14-year ban on game consoles in China.

This step is predictable because the ban on game console has been lifted in Shanghai Free Trade Zone upon its establishment on September 29th, 2013, and the first batch of consoles – Xbox One was assembled in the zone and cleared by customs on August 29th, 2013, another console – Play Station 4 is to be released in China in near future.
