In order to protect the rights and interests of consumers, the Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau of China recently organized special random inspections on the quality of pacifiers made in China. After various index tests, a total of 7 batches of unqualified pacifiers were found in this issue, involving brands such as Bear, Couleur, Meishang October, aynmer, Jerrybaby, Youai, Anpei, etc.
These unqualified Chinese-made pacifiers include 5 batches from the “Little Bear” pacifier produced by Bear Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., and the “aynmer” cute cat pacifier produced by Guangzhou Huangxing Baby Products Co., Ltd. and other manufacturers, as well as 2 batches of feeding nipples including “Anpei” natural taste wide mouth nipple from Foshan Anpei Baby Products Co., Ltd.
The most problematic spot in this issue is the “volatile substance” item, and 5 batches of China pacifiers failed the test.
Some processing aids remain in the production process of pacifiers, and these additives usually contain a certain degree of toxicity. If the volatile substances of the nipple are not qualified, harmful substances will gradually dissolve during use, which will directly affect the health of infants and young children.
Baby pacifiers are in contact with infants’ mouths for a long time. The harmful substances in the pacifiers are easy to separate out and enter the baby’s body. Most hazardous substances have latent and cumulative properties. In addition, the infant’s own immune system is not perfect. So the possibility of harm is quite high.
