MANGO and other famous brands’ shoes fail sampling inspection

MANGO’s AIRE short boots were found to be unsafe to wear, PT’son men’s shoes, DIBO women’s shoes and RAER men’s shoes also had such problems.

In response to consumer complaints and reports, or products that have had many quality problems in the past, the Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau has recently organized a centralized law enforcement force against Wanda Plaza (Minhang Zhuanqiao Store), Longemont Shopping Center (Changning Store), and Grand Gateway, and spot-checked 60 batches of leather shoes sold by 14 shopping malls, including Xuhui Pacific Department Store, CapitaLand Jingcui Plaza (Xujiahui Road Store), and 8 online trading platforms including MANGO’s official website. After testing, 7 batches were unqualified, and the unqualified detection rate was 11.7%.

The unqualified items are mainly physical indicators such as folding resistance, wear resistance of the heel surface, friction color fastness of lining and inner pad, peeling strength of upper sole, abrasion resistance of outsole, bonding strength of outsole and outsole, shank and other physical indicators.

During the random inspection, a batch of MANGO brand short boots AIRE was found to be unqualified for the peeling strength of the bottom and the shank. The peel strength of the upper sole reflects the adhesion fastness between the upper and the sole. If the index is unqualified, the shoes are easy to open the glue, causing the upper and the sole to separate, which seriously affects the wearing.

MANGO Apparel (China) Co., Ltd. sells on its official website the MANGO brand short boots AIRE (model specification: 7709660/ 242/86; production date or batch number: 2020.05.16), which is nominally produced (or supplied) by it, and the bottom is stripped off The measured strength is 30 (N/cm) for the left foot and 27 (N/cm) for the right foot (standard value should be ≥40N/cm), which does not meet the standard requirements. At the same time, the batch was also found to have obvious cracks in the bending performance of the shanks (the standard value should not be broken, but there may be micro cracks), which does not meet the standard requirements. According to the announcement, the shank is installed in the waist area between the shoe outsole and the outer midsole and acts as a “beam” to support and maintain the overall shape of the shoe. If the shank is unqualified, the shoes are easily deformed, and the wearing is unstable. In severe cases, they may even sag or fall.

On March 23, the reporter inquired on MANGO’s official website and found that the AIRE boots of the above models were still on sale, priced at 759 yuan. According to the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, Mango Clothing (China) Co., Ltd. was established in January 2011. Its legal representative is LIDIA MARTINEZ VICENTE with a registered capital of 13.3 million Euros. It is 100% controlled by Mango Hong Kong Co., Ltd. Public information shows that MANGO is a clothing brand from Spain.

2 batches of men’s shoes of PT’SON Footwear were found to be unqualified in folding resistance

The spot check also detected unqualified flexural resistance and wear resistance of well-known brand shoes including Baitiansen and OVV. Folding resistance is a comprehensive quality indicator for the wearing life of footwear. Unqualified flexural performance, the shoes are prone to problems such as sole fracture, upper surface cracking or upper sole opening during shoe wear.

For example, the PT’son men’s shoes (model specification: PYQN8363HT1DD9/255 (2.5), which are nominally produced (or supplied) by Shenzhen PT’SON Footwear Co., Ltd.) sold in Pacific Department Store by Shanghai Pacific Department Store Co., Ltd.; production date Or batch number: 2019.07.30), the measured folding resistance performance is 25.7mm after the left foot is folded, the inner upper bottom is opened by 25.7mm, the right foot is folded after the outer upper bottom is opened 18.6mm, and the inner side bottom is opened 20.4mm (the standard requires that there should be no upper surface cracks after folding. The length of the glue, cracked surface, bottom wall, upper sole or sole should not be greater than 5.0mm), which does not meet the standard requirements.

DIBO women’s shoes were found to be unqualified for the wear resistance of the heel surface and the wear resistance of the outsole

Wear resistance reflects the ability of the heel surface and outsole materials to resist wear. If the index is unqualified, the footwear is seriously worn or worn out and cannot be worn, which affects the service life.

For example, Guangzhou Tellurium Shoe Industry Co., Ltd. Shanghai Changning Store sells in the Longemont Shopping Center (Changning store), which is nominally produced (or supplied) by Guangzhou Tellurium Shoe Co., Ltd.

“DIBO” brand women’s shoes (model specification: 204C2151A02/240; production date or batch number: 2020.09.20), outsole wear resistance measured length of the left foot 16.8 (mm), right foot: 18.0 (mm) (standard value should be ≤14.0mm), which does not meet the standard requirements.

RAER men’s shoes were found to be unqualified for the rubbing fastness of the lining and inner pad

The color fastness to rubbing reflects the degree of fading of the shoe when worn. If the index is unqualified, footwear linings and inner pads are easy to fade and contaminate pants, socks and skin.

Shanghai Chongding Trading Co., Ltd. Xuhui No. 1 Branch sells in the Grand Gateway 66 Plaza with a nominal name produced (or supplied) by Shanghai Chongding Trading Co., Ltd.

RAER men’s casual shoes (model specification: 02153204200577/245mm (2.5); production date or batch number: 2020.05.20), the color fastness to rubbing is actually measured as lining (leather part) 1-2 (grade), inner pad 1-2 (Level) (standard value should be ≥ 2-3 level), which is inconsistent with the standard requirements. According to the results of random inspections, the market supervision department has ordered relevant business operators to immediately stop selling unqualified products, and conduct a comprehensive clean-up of inventory products and products on sale. Relevant laws and regulations require proactive measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, and transfer operators who sell substandard products to the local market supervision department for investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
