Lin Chi-ling Refutes Claims of Domestic Abuse Amid Ongoing Speculations

Model and actress Lin Chi-ling responded to rumors of domestic abuse on July 31 through her agent, stating: “I hope everyone doesn’t worry about and spread such obviously false internet rumors. Thank you for your concern. My sister, brother-in-law, and I are all well. There is no domestic violence in our home, only love. I hope to spread positive energy and will always strive to do so.”

Earlier, there was an uproar about Lin being abused by her Japanese husband, Akira. Some paparazzi even alleged Akira led a chaotic private life and had wooed Lin by pretending to be a gentleman. However, Lin did not respond to these allegations publicly, allowing the rumors to ferment.

On March 8, paparazzi reported that the reason for the alleged domestic abuse was due to disharmony between the couple after their marriage. In an attempt to win back her husband’s affection, Lin allegedly went to great lengths to conceive, and eventually gave birth to a son. However, the birth of their son did not breathe new life into their marriage.

Rumors further suggested that Lin had been beaten so badly that her implants were displaced, prompting her to return to Taiwan to seek cosmetic surgery and repairs. During her first month back in Taiwan, she had no public schedule and only reappeared in her second month, claiming she returned home to take care of her mother.

There were also rumors that Lin’s mother-in-law was displeased with her, her husband frequently had extramarital affairs, and led a chaotic private life. Lin once participated in a Japanese program, donning a revealing white tank top and flirtatiously asking the camera, “Do you want to date me? If you date me, I’ll clean your room for you!” This act was widely criticized as it diverged from her image as an elegant goddess.

Despite all this, when questioned about the domestic violence rumors at the promotion of her new book “Graceful and Just Right,” Lin categorically denied them, expressing that she wouldn’t let internet rumors affect her, as it would only make life worse. However, netizens noticed her oily and swollen face, speculating that the reality might be different from what she claimed.

According to Taiwanese media, Lin and her husband, Akira, had a prenuptial agreement stipulating that if one of them admitted to domestic violence leading to divorce, they would have to pay a hefty penalty to the other party. Initially, they may have believed that this agreement would restrain each other to maintain their public image, but it later turned into a shackle that restricted their freedom of speech.
