Mainland China’s real-name system for internet celebrities was implemented at the end of 2023, requiring internet self-media with over one million or 500,000 followers to disclose their real names and appearances.

In this “New Year Greetings to You” poster, many internet beauties and virtual celebrities are fully exposed, as all the photos on the poster are bare-faced ID photos. The most shocking revelation is the popular sensual internet celebrity “Doll Sister”.

Reportedly, “Doll Sister” was hailed as the mask goddess, with her extremely captivating eye makeup and revealing attire showcasing her great figure, attracting 667,000 followers on IG. However, in the ID photo, she looks completely different, leaving many netizens utterly perplexed.

In another poster, there are active virtual celebrities on Bilibili such as “Leina” and “Baishen Yao,” as well as the “superstar Miqiu Tu.”

However, under mainland China’s real-name system policy, all of these individuals must reveal their true identities. Some internet celebrities who previously didn’t show their faces are now forced to expose themselves, causing a huge contrast that has led netizens to exclaim that their characters have been shattered, likening it to a public execution.

Nevertheless, many fans remain unfazed and continue to support their favorite virtual celebrities. Fortunately, there haven’t been reports of a mass exodus of followers from any internet celebrity. Some internet celebrities, due to their good looks, hope that this exposure of their true identities will attract even more fans.
