Bags and suitcases of No. 1 Yaohan, RT-Mart and Mark Fairwhale unqualified

The Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau yesterday exposed 12 batches of unqualified suitcases and schoolbags, involving malls and manufacturers such as No. 1 Yaohan (第一八佰伴), RT-Mart (大润发), Bao Daxiang (宝大祥), and Mark Fairwhale (马克华菲).

The Municipal Market Supervision Bureau of Shanghai stated that travel luggage and school bags are products that have been complained and reported by consumers and have many quality problems recently. A total of 70 batches of travel luggage and school bags sold by 16 supermarkets were sampled in recent supervision and spot checks, and the unqualified rate reached 17.14%. The unqualified items are mainly vibration impact performance and impact resistance performance.

There are 11 batches of products with unqualified vibration impact performance. Oscillation impact performance is an important indicator for simulating whether the handle, strap, bag body and other components can maintain normal use after being subjected to oscillation impact during actual use. If the index is unqualified, the handle or strap may break during use, affecting normal use. In the standard test, a qualified dual-strap travel bag should withstand 400 times of vibration shock performance test, and there will be no deformation, breakage, damage, etc.

Another batch of products had unqualified impact resistance. Impact resistance is the assessment of the box body’s ability to resist deformation and the fastness of the combination of various accessories and the box body. If this index is unqualified, problems such as cracks and dents in the cabinet, deformation and damage of the walking wheel support, and falling off of the walking wheel may occur. After the impact resistance test of this batch of products, the upper left corner of the front face was cracked, and the left and right corners of the upper rear face were deformed, which did not meet the standard requirements.

According to the results of the spot check, the market supervision department has ordered the markets to immediately stop selling substandard products, clean up inventory and products on sale, implement corrective measures within a time limit, implement unconditional returns and exchanges for substandard products that have been sold, and filed cases to investigate the substandard sales according to law.
