Toyota, BMW and Volkswagen recall cars with safety hazards in China

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration of China in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products”. It was decided to recall some imported Toyota Venza vehicles produced between April 10, 2012 and July 1, 2015, starting from July 15, 2021, totaling 2,109 vehicles.

Some vehicles within the scope of this recall are bent due to interference between the door harness at the door hinge of the driver’s seat and the waterproof cover. As a result, the rear airbag sensor harness may be disconnected due to metal fatigue due to the long-term use of the vehicle. The airbag warning lamp lights up. When a vehicle collides, the side airbags and curtain airbags may not be deployed normally, which increases the risk of occupants being injured in the collision accident and poses a safety hazard.

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will entrust GAC Toyota sales outlets to inspect the driver’s door wiring harness for vehicles within the recall range. If the wiring harness is abnormal, it will be replaced with a qualified wiring harness for free to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Emergency measures: Before the recall for repairs, if the airbag warning light is on during the use of the vehicle, please contact the nearest dealer for inspection and repair as soon as possible.

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will notify relevant users in the form of registered mail. Users can call GAC Toyota Customer Service Center: 800-830-8888 or 400-830-8888 to obtain relevant information about the recall. In addition, you can also log on to the websites dpac.samr.gov.cn and www.recall.org.cn for more information and clues to defects.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration of China in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products”. From April 16, 2021, some imported 6-series cars with production dates from May 10, 2019 to May 14, 2019 will be recalled, a total of 11 units.

For some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the brake line located at the left rear of the engine compartment may interfere with the ground bolt. It may cause the surface of the brake pipeline to wear over time. After a long period of wear, it may cause the surface of the brake pipeline to rust or even leak, causing the brake pedal to be significantly softer and the pedal stroke to be significantly longer, which will increase the occurrence of accidents. There is a potential safety hazard.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace the improved brake pipes for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.

This recall was carried out when the State Administration for Market Supervision and Administration of China initiated a defect investigation. Affected by the investigation, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. decided to take recall measures to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Audi FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration of China in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products”. Due to the deviation of the supplier’s manufacturing process, the weakening line of the front passenger airbag cover of the dashboard of some vehicles within the scope of this recall has not been completely weakened. In the event of a vehicle accident, the front airbag of the front passenger may not be fully deployed, and in extreme cases it may cause the airbag with foreign objects to pop up, posing a safety hazard.

FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. will entrust Audi authorized dealers to inspect the fabric cutting of the weakening line of the dashboard airbag cover for the vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge. If there is no cutting or not completely cutting, it will be cut according to the maintenance instructions to eliminate Security risks.
