I’m Calvin, the person behind this site. I’m based in Huai’an, Jiangsu Province, in eastern China, and I’ve worked as a professional translator for nearly two decades, holding a CATTI Level 2 certification — one of China’s highest professional translation credentials. Over the years, I’ve handled translation and content work for a range of clients, including major international brands, across manufacturing, supply chain, and technical documentation.
CMGM exists because sourcing from China involves a lot of decisions that are hard to get right from the outside — which certifications are real, which suppliers are actually manufacturers versus traders, which technical claims on a spec sheet are physics and which ones are marketing. I write about these questions the way I’d want them answered myself: checking official databases, reading regulations directly rather than repeating secondhand summaries, and cross-referencing Chinese-language and English-language sources, since each side of that language gap tends to know things the other doesn’t.
This isn’t a large research desk or a strategic intelligence operation — it’s one person, trying to write the kind of practical, verified guide I wish existed when I first started working around China’s manufacturing and export world.
